February, 2001 - Second Record

Roy "The Canadian Shield" Berger sets another world record (Record #2)

The sportscasters called him "Roy the Canadian Shield Berger" when he set a new record for 100 push-ups with feet at a 80 cm [2 ft 7 1/2 in] high table. The former record was 68 seconds, but Roy did it in 45.7 seconds.

This record-breaking attempt took place between the first and second periods of the Ottawa vs Vancouver game at the Corel Centre in Ottawa on February 24, 2001. The cameras were there as Roy did his push-ups on centre ice as part of Hockey Day in Canada, and he remembers that the CBC broadcast three games that day.

Roy’s attempt was used to raise money for children’s charities in the Ottawa-Carleton region.  Partners included the Ottawa Senators Foundation and SportsCan.
